Doctor Aphra and Star Wars Comics Star in Marvel’s The Screaming Citadel Crossover

The Screaming Citadel AnnouncementWhen I first saw the announcement, I thought it was a joke, as The Screaming Citadel sounds like something out of a campy horror B-movie. Thankfully it wasn’t though, as it sounds like Marvel’s next crossover (the first being Vader Down) looks to embrace the title’s tone and give us a gothic-horror story set in the Star Wars universe. Even better, it’s a crossover of the mainline Star Wars series with my absolute favorite comic character to date, Doctor Aphra! Check out some choice details below to find out what awaits you dear comic reader when the crossover begins this May. UPDATE: Marco Checchetto, who will have artist duties on the one-shot start to the crossover, shares some new character designs, so check that out below too! Star Wars #28

– Spoiler Review –

“Yoda’s Secret War,” continues in Star Wars issue #28, where his tale begins to ‘forcefully’ intertwine across time, we get to see more clearly into a different side of the great Jedi Master, and the mysteries in his adventure at least get a little more interesting. Star Wars #26

– Spoiler Review –

Begun, in Star Wars #26, “Yoda’s Secret War” has. Jason Aaron is joined by one of my favorite artist pairs, Salvador Larroca and Edgar Delgado (Darth Vader), for an adventure from Yoda’s past, as read by Luke from the Journal’s of Old Ben Kenobi. Star Wars #25

– Spoiler Review –

With Star Wars issue #25, “The Last Flight of the Harbinger”  comes to an end, and even if it’s a snappy, action-packed issue, it’s not enough to save this arc from being one of the series’ first disappointing ones. However I did find something else to enjoy about this issue: there’s a bonus one-shot story made in honor of Kenny Baker, the actor who brought R2-D2 to life for so many years. Yoda-Centric Star Wars Comic Arc Announced, New On-Going Series Teased (UPDATED)

Yoda arc and new on-going teasedIn my review of the last “Journals of Old Ben Kenobi,” the one-off tales that split up new arcs for the Star Wars mainline comic series, I wrote that it had, “a sense of finality” to it and I’d be okay if they didn’t return to his time on Tatooine (though I’d gladly take more). Technically they will be returning, but instead of a tale of Obi-Wan’s deeds it’ll be of Yoda’s deeds. And not only is it a full arc instead of a one-off, it’ll be drawn by Salvador Larroca, the genius artist behind the Darth Vader series. Can this just come out now, please?!? Also, it looks like those curious to see what new on-going will replace the DV series might have their first clues as what to expect (*cough*Aprha*cough*). More details below! Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #22

Star Wars #22

Spoiler Review –

After the Star Wars series took an issue to introduce a new, deadly squad of stormtroopers, issue #22 begins “The Last Flight of the Harbinger” arc proper with the Rebellion attempting to steal a Star Destroyer. While not the best this series has ever offered, it does at least end on some tantalizing promises for where this arc can go. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #22”
