Impressive, most impressive indeed! “Hunted” gives us the Imperial perspective as the New Republic comes to power, and it’s a tense, highly cinematic, and thrilling CG short that certainly builds hype for the release of Star Wars Squadrons on October 2! The video walks a fine line, especially these days, with having the star be a devoted Imperial, something Star Wars veterans like John Kroll discuss being conscious of in the interview about the short over at the official site. The TIE pilot, Varko Grey (voiced by Noshir Dalal), has a Databank entry already which hints he has his doubts about the Empire’s methods at times, as well as revealing he’s another entry in SW’s growing LGBTQ+ rep by mentioning he has a husband; I love the low-key nature of this reveal and hope stuff like this continues. Thanks to the Star Wars: Squadrons gameplay reveal at EA Play 2020, we now know the game will basically be the modern day spiritual successor to flight games of yesteryear, like Rogue Squadron or X-wing vs TIE Fighter! The initial reveal trailer was exciting, but I always wait until gameplay videos before I know if I should properly be eager to play a game and Squadrons’ newest trailer took me from, “Sure, maybe” to “Yes, please, immediately,” on its October 2 release.
