Publishing News: Obi-Wan & Anakin Audiobook Released, Bad Batch Comic Miniseries & High Republic Adventures Annual Announced!

Sometimes, it’s just one of those days: an audiobook original for Audible gets shadow dropped by Disney Lucasfilm Press, while Dark Horse announces both a Bad Batch focused miniseries for January 2025 (via Star Wars News Net), and The High Republic Adventures Annual Phase III. Audible’s Padawan’s Pride follows a young Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the early days of their training (and I’ve already listened to some of it), Clone Force 99 rides again in Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents, set during the Clone Wars, and the THRA Annual bring 5 stories of light and life during the era’s third Phase. The High Republic is back, and Tales of Light and Life is leading the charge into Phase III by bringing together the past, present, and future of the initiative into one bound volume. And what a volume it is. If you’re a frequent reader here at the Manor, you know I absolutely loved Phase I of THR: I bought every variant of the novels (so, uh, four editions of Light of the Jedi and The Rising Storm; three editions of The Fallen Star, Out of the Shadows, and Midnight Horizon, etc.) and a lot of the comic variants, but Phase II fell rather flat to me. Thankfully, Tales of Light and Life comes in blasters blazing, creating new, exciting possibilities for the initiative and getting me excited again for the future. With Phase II nearing its end, much of Celebration Europe 2023’s High Republic panel focused on teasing what was ahead for Phase III: Trials of the Jedi, as we got a ton of title reveals and a general timeline for its length, with Phase III ending in 2025! High Republic Anthology Titled Tales of Light and Life, Celebration London Panel Revealed

High Republic Show: Year End Entry Reveals Character Encyclopedia, New Covers, and More!

2022 has been a pretty eventful year for The High Republic, even if it only released across 6 of the 12 months. 2022 started with the finale to Phase I that saw Starlight Beacon fallen and story left on a cliffhanger and the year ended with the beginning of Phase II, the 150 years extra blast to the past for extra context to the era’s story. The High Republic Show and the affable Krystina Arielle have been there for us through the big moments and the quiet in-betweens, feeding us many feasts of content and now they have one last holiday gift for us with this year end show! As part of The High Republic’s Phase II: Quest of the Jedi’s first wave of content, The High Republic – Convergence is the first adult novel of the new Phase. Marking Zoraida Córdova’s THR debut, Convergence follows Jedi Knight Gella Nattai as she, and seemingly the rest of the galaxy, get wrapped up in a high stakes peace summit to bring the Forever War of E’ronoh and Eiram to a close. As the prince and princess of the warring worlds draw closer, so too do all the forces conspiring to keep the planets apart, a small-scale struggle with greater galactic meaning, making Convergence an often intriguing, exciting, and character-focused next great entry in Phase II.
