“No one is safe from the truth” is a wonderful little tagline for The Acolyte, as showrunner/executive producer Leslye Headland has teased multiple times now the show is sort of like an onion, peeling away something new right up until the finale. So one could say, in honor of a show I only started watching two years ago, the truth is out there, somewhere, and it’s up to The Acolyte‘s characters if they want to accept it or not. There’s plenty of mystery to unlock, just from the trailer alone: whose side is Qimir (Manny Jacinto) on, since we see him talking with Mae (Amandla Stenberg)? In the key art poster below, why are there two Mae’s and why does Headland tease this by saying “…embrace the duality that exists in every character,” as is she hinting Mae has a twin?! And Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) asks the one everyone wants to know, “What are you?” to the masked, red-blade wielding character shown in the trailer’s final moments, whom Headland teases is her favorite character, as are they Sith or something else? Star Wars Comics July 2024 Solicitations
The 2024 July Star Wars comic solicitations are here and, well, one wouldn’t be wrong for being even more interested in the advanced solicits for August that Dark Horse included! But July 2024 isn’t a slouch when it comes to what it’ll have to offer, as the deadly Inquisitorious take center stage in the launch of their new miniseries, Inquisitors, the final Darth Maul: Black, White & Red looks to give the series a memorable finale, Luke Skywalker will be hanging out with one of his mother’s doppelgangers (?!), Ty Yorrick while have to face her past, and so much more! As for the August reveals, The High Republic fans will want to take extra note of what’s to come! So head below and check out the July 2024 Star Wars comic solicitations!
Comic News: Inquisitors Miniseries Out in July!
It feels like Star Wars is entering its villain era, from taking over the Empire State Building, the Tales of the Empire announcement, even the upcoming The Acolyte showing the rise of the darkness, and now this announcement: the Inquisitors comic miniseries! Star Wars Outlaws Story Trailer Promises Grand Adventures, Reveals August 30 Release Date!
After the gameplay walkthrough video released alongside its announcement back in June 2023, I didn’t really need to see more to be convinced I was going to get Star Wars Outlaws when it releases. The latest lowdown on the game, a story trailer, an August 30 release date, and pre-order bonuses came in handy for my confirmation bias about how good this game really looks. The tenacious Kay Vess, her adorable merqaal Nix, and enforcer droid ND-5 mixing it up with the galactic underworld elite, all to secure her freedom to start a new life, and doing so in scoundrel-ific fashion, visiting locales like Akiva, Toshara, and returning to her home of Cantonica’s Canto Bight…what more could you want?! Tales of the Empire Announced, Out May 4!
If I wasn’t at work, I wouldn’t have been able to pick up my jaw yet about this surprise announcement! While we were all waiting to hear more about a season two of Tales of the Jedi, Lucasfilm went ahead and did something unexpected but extremely welcomed: announcing Tales of the Empire, which releases in full on May 4, complete with the show’s first trailer! Much like the Jedi incarnation, Tales of the Empire will follow two characters over six episodes: Lady Morgan Elsbeth and former Jedi Barriss Offee! From one of the most intriguing new characters to another which fans have long been clamoring to discover the fate of, Tales of the Empire looks absolutely spellbinding. Star Wars Comics June 2024 Solicitations
June is a rather big month in Star Wars, with the premiere of The Acolyte and the next wave of The High Republic kicking off with Temptation of the Force, though thankfully the comics hold up their end too! The trail of Lando reaches its conclusion, Baron Boolan’s devious machinations come to light, Maul has a crisis of faith, the Jango Fett miniseries ends, and much more! Also, as is tradition, the Pride Month variant covers will return as well, though they’ve yet to be revealed. Drink in that trailer, folks, because it’s a hearty taste of what’s to come on The Acolyte, premiering with two episodes on June 4! I know I’m still freaking out from how damn good it was! Set towards the end of the High Republic era (so around 100 years before The Phantom Menace), a series of Jedi murders brings about an investigation while a darkness sets to rise…which we get a tease of with a spinning red lightsaber in the closing minutes of the Jedi kung fu filled, eerie and tonally dark, trailer! Now THAT is how you set the tone! Ahead of The Acolyte’s first public trailer (one premiered at Celebration Europe 2023 but only grainy camera footage exists) on 3/19/2024 at 10am CST, the official site and related social media accounts revealed a grisly intriguing teaser poster, release date (June 4), and brief synopsis for the highly anticipated show. High Republic News: Next Audiobook, Tempest Breaker, Out December 3
Every Phase of The High Republic gets an audiobook original and Phase III: Trial of the Jedi’s is finally revealed: Tempest Breaker, written by Cavan Scott and featuring a full cast again! By the title and cover alone, Scott returns to the dastardly Lourna Dee again, but this time she’s joined by…friends? Who are Jedi?! What is going on here?! Reading Scott’s current The High Republic – Phase III run for Marvel will offer the biggest hints on how we get to this point, but there’s no doubts Tempest Breaker will be quite the story if it stars Lourna Dee and Jedi Masters Keeve Trennis and Avar Kriss!
