As fall settles in and winter fast approaches, the days grow darker ever quicker here in the Midwest, fitting for the penultimate month of the Dark Droids crossover and the feeling of helplessness most of these issues will hold before our heroes manage to prevail against the droid Scourge. November then could really benefit from some light and life, couldn’t it? Phase III of The High Republic begins in earnest as Marvel’s on-going from Cavan Scott kicks off, alongside more Shadows of Starlight, while letting Peach Momoko set the stage for a series of Star Wars: Visions one-shots all sounds like the perfect remedy to the darkness, no? With less than a week before Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, here are the August Star Wars comics solicitations, which include the beginning of Dark Horse’s return to the Saga with their all-ages input! Most of the issues in the solicitations will actually hit in August, as it seems the delays are back under control for now, but a few issues from prior months are scheduled to come out in August 2022 as well, so I’ve made sure to reference them too. Otherwise, feast your harvest-season eyes on T’onga’s final bid to save Cadeliah from Qi’ra’s Crimson Dawn, the next glimpse of Obi-Wan’s past, Chewie behind bars (again, but like can’t he just bend them?), and Darth Vader facing his most feared enemy…sand??!!? It’s been 6 months since the announcement Dark Horse would return to publish Star Wars comics and now we have the first details on their non-The High Republic content! Dark Horse is focusing on all-ages comics, like IDW did from 2017-2021, with two series: 1) Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories, essentially their take on IDW’s Star Wars Adventures line, as it’s an anthology series set in all different eras on the timeline. 2) Tales from the Rancor Pit, a new take on the horror anthology goodness IDW cooked up with their Vader’s Castle series. These two join the already announced The High Republic – Quest of the Jedi, though while that’s not out until October or later, these should be out in the summer!
