At EA Play 2019, a pre-E3 2019 event put on by game publisher EA, Respawn Entertainment took the stage to unveil our first look at Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay, while a new trailer premiered the day after (see above). I wasn’t initially sold on the game from the reveal trailer, but after nearly 15 minutes of gameplay (see below), I managed to more than fall in love with the game, while Game Informer’s cover story on the game blew the lid off some intriguing new details cementing my excitement for my game. But that wasn’t the only gaming news: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which covers the main 9 saga films, was announced! Jedi: Fallen Order Title of Respawn’s Star Wars Game, Coming Holiday 2019
At the annual gaming convention expo E3, video game publisher EA kicked off the festivities with their EA Play showcase, revealing sparse details and a title for Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming Star Wars game, first teased to have lightsaber wielding characters in 2016. Titled Jedi: Fallen Order, the game takes place shortly after Revenge of the Sith, following a surviving Padawan, and it’ll release Holiday 2019 (there’s already a website). With Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019 happening in April 2019, I’d say that would be our best bet to finally get footage and more specific details about the game. Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission Teaser, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Demo Impressions
Sunday’s EA Play Press Conference for E3 2016 didn’t have much to show on the Star Wars gaming front, but Monday night’s Sony PlayStation Conference pulled back a tiny corner of the veil. The above video is the extent of footage released for Criterion’s Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission, which takes you to space (a first in the revamped series) for a VR dogfight against TIEs. In a post over at the PlayStation Blog, it’s revealed to be free (granted you have a PS4 and PS VR). Also during the conference, PlayStation fans were treated with the news they had exclusive (for the night) rights to the first demo of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which I tried out and have my impressions below, including screenshots and clips. EA Provides Minor Updates on Upcoming Star Wars Video Games from Visceral Games, Respawn Entertainment, and More
The above video was released at EA Play’s E3 2016 Press Conference, showing off very brief glimpses into the upcoming future of Star Wars video games from Visceral Games, Respawn Entertainment, Motive, Capital Games, DICE, and Bioware. Shortly after, a blog post at EA.com went live, with a few more details, including a timetable. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot revealed and what little was shown was mostly underwhelming, but there was some nice teases in regards to both Visceral and Respawn’s games, and I’ve got more details below on all that’s coming. E3 2015 Star Wars News: Battlefront Gameplay Footage, SWTOR Expansion, Disney Infinity 3.0 Sets, and Mobile Games
While it feels just as staged as the demo us Star Wars Celebration Anaheim attendees saw behind-closed-doors, there’s no denying how beautiful Star Wars Battlefront looks, as seen in the above gameplay trailer. But that wasn’t all for Star Wars gaming news, as The Old Republic MMO had a new expansion announced, some more details on the Disney Infinity 3.0 playsets (like where you can get a Boba Fett figure first), and unfortunately another dang mobile card collecting game. The only disappointment was the lack of any news (not even a title!) for Visceral Games’ project. Head below for more video and details. E3 2014: Stand Out Moments
Each year, from the big wigs of companies and developers, to the indies, press, and the fans, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is meant to show everyone what the video game industry is up to these days. While there are discussions about its overall relevance to the industry, as some of the biggest reveals tend to happen at other conventions or just whenever people please, it still draws out the 10 year old in me (and I know it does for others too). While this year’s E3 wasn’t as thrilling as some of the ones in the past, I’d like to share a few things that still caught my attention and maybe you should check out as well. Continue reading “E3 2014: Stand Out Moments”
