Publishing News: Obi-Wan & Anakin Audiobook Released, Bad Batch Comic Miniseries & High Republic Adventures Annual Announced!

Sometimes, it’s just one of those days: an audiobook original for Audible gets shadow dropped by Disney Lucasfilm Press, while Dark Horse announces both a Bad Batch focused miniseries for January 2025 (via Star Wars News Net), and The High Republic Adventures Annual Phase III. Audible’s Padawan’s Pride follows a young Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the early days of their training (and I’ve already listened to some of it), Clone Force 99 rides again in Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents, set during the Clone Wars, and the THRA Annual bring 5 stories of light and life during the era’s third Phase. Comic News: 2023’s Pride Month Variants Announced, Jaxxon Returns in Hyperspace Stories Annual

After the stunning work for the Black History Month and Women’s History Month variant covers, there’s been increased anticipation for 2023’s Pride Month variants and after today’s reveal of the first handful (I’ll update this article as the rest roll in), they might just be the best batch of Pride Month variants yet! Featuring work done by LGBTQIA+ artists, characters like Sana Starros, Domina Tagge, Kantam Sy, and even Cinta and Vel from Andor will grace the covers, among others. Dark Horse Enters the Race with Hyperspace Stories, Tales from the Rancor Pit

It’s been 6 months since the announcement Dark Horse would return to publish Star Wars comics and now we have the first details on their non-The High Republic content! Dark Horse is focusing on all-ages comics, like IDW did from 2017-2021, with two series: 1) Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories, essentially their take on IDW’s Star Wars Adventures line, as it’s an anthology series set in all different eras on the timeline. 2) Tales from the Rancor Pit, a new take on the horror anthology goodness IDW cooked up with their Vader’s Castle series. These two join the already announced The High Republic – Quest of the Jedi, though while that’s not out until October or later, these should be out in the summer!
