Dropping jaws to the floor with her artwork time and time again, recently giving Star Wars comics fans beautiful Women’s History Month variant covers and a haunting tale in Darth Vader: Black, White & Red #1, Peach Momoko will kick off a series of Star Wars: Visions one-shot comics launching in November from Marvel! The potential is limitless with the series, as we could get original tales like Momoko’s or maybe even return to familiar ones from episodes past, and only time will tell where the series could go. Darth Vader: Black, White & Red #1 kicks off the experimental miniseries with a bunch of little stories about everyone’s favorite nightmare, the titular Sith Lord himself. Within its opening issue, there’s the beginning of Jason Aaron’s return to Star Wars comics, a surrealistic story like only Peach Momoko could deliver, and Toruun Grønbekk’s debut, all presenting Vader in different ways. Fresh off the recent reveal of the stellar Black History Month covers, Marvel has started to unveil March’s Women’s History Month variant covers, provided by artist Peach Momoko! While it’s only 4 of the total 11 covers to collect, these first batch are a stunning group, making the remaining list of characters a much anticipated reveal! I wish this was an April Fool’s joke, but April 2023’s Star Wars comics bring another Darth Vader focused comic, but fear not, there’s plenty of other comics goodness to enjoy! In fact, there’s the big, grand finale to Qi’ra’s momentous return trilogy in Hidden Empire, The High Republic’s Phase II comic finds Jedi trying to save their own, Sana Starros rides a rancor (!!!), Inferno Squad blazes up Bounty Hunters, Ewoks take center stage in a one-shot, and so much more! After two years of special Pride Month covers, Marvel is expanding its selection of celebratory covers and now has ones coming up for Black History Month (and even Women’s History Month later)! Artist Mateus Manhanini goes hard on the incredible covers, which you can glimpse below the cut alongside which comic issue they’ll be releasing with, 10 total to enjoy and collect. Clearly we all underestimated the upcoming War of the Bounty Hunters crossover, as the June 2021 Star Wars comics solicitations reveal it not only has the prelude issues in May, but it’ll have both the miniseries and tie-in issues going forward, through October! And here I was originally assuming this would lead into a Shadows of the Empire-type event, but it seems this is that big event itself! So read on below to learn about Chewbacca battling Valance (expect limbs to be lost!), Vader and Ochi going up against IG-88 (is there enough ‘man’ left in Vader to defeat this machine?), and Doctor Aphra and Sana Starros come face to face with….DURGE?! Yes, that Durge! Also coming in June, Pride Variant covers, which is a nice touch though I wish they could’ve offered more, like a full issue of Pride-related Star Wars tales…but I’ll take this for now!
